Ideal Protein, GLP-1 & Body Composition Coaching — FAQ

What's the difference between body composition coaching and regular weight loss coaching?
Regular weight loss coaching tracks one number: the scale. Body composition coaching tracks what's actually changing underneath that number.
At WA Lifestyle & Wellness Center, we review progress in this order: body fat trend first, lean mass trend second, then weight trend, waist measurements, and healthy habits. A dropping scale isn't automatically good news if a meaningful share of that loss is muscle rather than fat — and a flat scale isn't automatically bad news if your body fat is trending down and your habits are getting stronger. We're coaching toward a healthy body composition goal, not an arbitrary goal weight.
Can I do Ideal Protein coaching while taking a GLP-1 medication like Wegovy or Zepbound?
Yes. Many of our clients combine a GLP-1 medication with our coaching, and the two work well together.
We don't prescribe or adjust medication — that decision stays with your prescribing healthcare provider. What our coaching adds is the part a medication alone doesn't provide: structured nutrition, protein-focused meal planning, and body composition monitoring, so the changes you're making support your results rather than working against them.
How do I avoid losing muscle while on a GLP-1 medication?
The short answer: eat enough protein, and track more than the scale.
GLP-1 medications reduce appetite, which often means eating less overall — and when total intake drops without a deliberate focus on protein, some of what's lost can be lean mass instead of fat. Our coaching keeps protein intake adequate throughout, and reviews your body-fat and lean-mass trend alongside weight, not weight alone, so we can catch and correct that pattern early rather than after the fact.
Is there an Ideal Protein clinic near Chicago Heights, and do I have to come in every week?
Yes — WA Lifestyle & Wellness Center is an authorized Ideal Protein clinic based in Chicago Heights, IL, serving Chicago's south suburbs including Homewood, Flossmoor, Olympia Fields, and Matteson.
Coaching is available both in person and virtually, so you're not required to come into the clinic for every appointment. Current hours and appointment availability are confirmed at booking, since they can vary.
What happens after I reach my goal on Ideal Protein — is there a real plan to keep it off?
Yes — Maintenance is a structured phase, not a finish line you're left to navigate alone.
Entering Maintenance means shifting from a weight-loss mindset to a maintenance mindset, guided by your personal Macro Code. We plan menus around it, keep reviewing your journal for hunger and habit patterns, and check in regularly — including scheduled tune-ups — with the goal of keeping you within about 5% of your new weight. Setbacks are treated as normal and expected, not as failure: we look at what changed, adjust, and move forward.
Do I have to buy Ideal Protein food forever, or is there a maintenance plan?
No — Ideal Protein products are core to the early phases, but the plan is designed to move you toward real food, not permanent dependence on packaged meals.
Through Stabilization, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, and other whole foods are reintroduced gradually. By the time you reach Maintenance, you're eating largely real food, structured around your personal Macro Code rather than a list of Ideal Protein products.
What is a "Macro Code," and why does it matter for keeping weight off long-term?
Your Macro Code is your personal ratio of protein, fat, and net carbohydrates — the specific balance that keeps your hunger and cravings manageable while holding your weight steady.
It's determined at the end of Stabilization, once we've seen how your body actually responds to reintroduced food, rather than assigned generically on day one. From there, it becomes your ongoing guide through Maintenance — the reason two people who lost similar amounts of weight can end up eating differently and both keep it off.
How does WA Lifestyle & Wellness measure progress? Do you just track the scale?
No — the scale is one data point among several, not the whole picture.
When body composition data is available, we look at body fat trend, lean mass trend, weight trend, waist measurements, and habits, energy, and function — in that order of priority. Home body-composition scales are estimates that shift with hydration, so we're reading trends across multiple check-ins, not reacting to any single number.
Which portal do I use — Ideal Protein or Now Keep It Off?
It depends on your program, and it's normal to wonder — we run two separate systems on purpose, because they serve two different things.
If you're on the Ideal Protein protocol, you'll check in and track your protocol through the official Ideal Protein Portal at platform.idealprotein.com. If you're coaching with Now Keep It Off — including GLP-1 nutrition support, stabilization, or maintenance coaching — you'll check in through your Now Keep It Off account at nowkeepitoff.com. Some clients use both at different points in their journey. Not sure which applies to you right now? Reach out and we'll point you to the right one.
